Fit to Lead - Personal to you
A personally tailored learning journey of leadership and management development:
Complements existing clinical professional development - Identifies career progression

You spend a half-day working with your BAMM Coach and BAMM Tutor through an assessment of your current skills and educational status, you develop a plan between the three of you. You undertake a programme tailored specifically to you, choosing the most appropriate training and development interventions for your level of skills, your aspirations, your role, your location, your preferred methods of learning – from a wide range of BAMM accredited providers and programmes – from one-to-one coaching to intensive programmes and single day seminars, through to masters and doctorate level degree courses. Your progress against your own programme is assessed by your BAMM Tutor and documented in your Fit to Lead Logbook – which then provides evidence of CPD and learning for your revalidation portfolio as a clinical leader. You then work again with your BAMM Coach and BAMM Tutor to reflect on your progress, re-assess your priorities and adjust your plan. All in the space of twelve months. Learning CreditsLearning Credits are awarded throughout the journey. We credit all BAMM-certified learning experiences and our team of tutors will help align your learning and development with the criteria for Fit to Lead. AchievementFit to Lead moves at the pace most appropriate for your needs and the demands on your time. We assess your portfolio at a time that is right for you.
Your successful achievement will gain you recognition as a:
- depending on the level you choose to take. Each level of your achievement will be marked by the award of a certificate at a formal recognition ceremony within BAMM. The awards signify the considerable work required to attain the given level of knowledge and skills of a medical leader. The awards will, for the first time, allow the wider NHS to identify medical leaders who have made a serious commitment to developing their skills and knowledge in the field, and will underpin both recruitment to these senior posts and remuneration policies for medical leaders. 360º Feedback
To enable individuals to assimilate evidence on their progress through Fit to Lead, we will be using a specifically designed 360º feedback process.
Fit to Lead participants will receive personalised feedback from a trained tutor at set stages in the journey, in a format which will support the appraisal process.
